WSF

On Thursday 9 May 2024, the Women for a Sustainable Future (WSF) network convened online to identify opportunities to develop cooperation to tackle and minimise the impacts of water scarcity in southern Iraq, and to reduce the risk of tensions arising between Gulf-MENA countries over water resources. Ministers, health officials, senior diplomats and parliamentarians participated from Bahrain, Egypt, France, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Spain, Türkiye, Tunisia, and the UK.

Discussion focused on the societal, economic, and health impacts of the droughts on the livelihoods of women in the southern Iraqi regions, notably within the Mesopotamian marshlands.
