Ministerial meetings in Ramallah, 30 April and 1 May 2024

On 30 April and 1 May, Oliver McTernan and Jordan Morgan were invited to meet with seven newly appointed Ministers in the technocratic government in Ramallah, West Bank.

Discussions focused on the urgent legal, health, economic, social, and humanitarian challenges facing people in Gaza, where over two million Palestinian civilians face peril and disaster each day. Hunger and disease are increasingly prevalent as civilian infrastructure is destroyed. The meetings enabled Forward Thinking to identify key areas and opportunities to mitigate identified challenges to avert a further loss of civilian life.

The disastrous consequences of a ground invasion into Rafah, southern Gaza, were also discussed.

It was said that many children and families have limited access to food, water, shelter, and medical care. They urgently need medical teams, trauma units, and field hospitals. Underpinning each of these areas is the need for a permanent ceasefire and the opening of the land crossings into Gaza.
