Forward Thinking at the World Economic Forum, 25-27 May 2022

Between 25th-27th April, Oliver McTernan and Jordan Morgan participated in workshops convened by the World Economic Forum’s Breaking The Impasse (BIT) group.Oliver moderated a session entitled “Diplomacy Dialogue: The Two-State Solution in a Rapidly Changing Geopolitical Landscape”. A panel of experts from Switzerland, US, Bahrain and Israel participated.Further sessions focussed on the impact of war in Ukraine, Covid-19, shifting global geopolitical outlooks and the lack of an inclusive political process to end violence between Israelis and Palestinians.Insights on the European experience of supporting fragile economies were shared by H.E. Nicolas Schmit, Commissioner for Jobs and Social Rights, European Commission. The development of Palestinian human capital as a driver for sustainable economic development was identified as an important focus moving forward.
