WSF meeting - Joint call for a ceasefire to alleviate the challenges faced by women in Gaza, 16 May 2024

On Thursday 16 May 2024, the Women for a Sustainable Future (WSF) network convened online to hear directly from women representatives from Gaza about the disproportionate impacts that the ongoing conflict is having on the lives of women. The purpose of the meeting was to identify opportunities to develop cooperation in the network to help alleviate these challenges.

The discussion was led by two Palestinians from Gaza, and the meeting was attended by representatives, parliamentarians and senior diplomats from Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Libya, Oman, Palestine, Saudi Arabia, Sweden, Tunisia, Türkiye, the UK. Participants stressed the urgent necessity for a permanent and sustainable ceasefire. Discussions also highlighted the significant health challenges facing women in Gaza and the critical need for increased humanitarian aid.
