Meeting with the President of Ireland, 20 August 2024

On 20 August, Oliver and Jordan met with the President of Ireland, HE Michael D. Higgins, in his Phoenix Park residence to discuss the war in Gaza as well as the work of Forward Thinking in facilitating meetings between the leaders of the Muslim community in Northern Ireland and a group of cross-party Members of the Legislative Assembly. Whilst in Dublin they held meetings in the Dáil Éireann, the Irish Parliament, with the independent member Cathal Berry. They also had meetings with the former Irish Prime Minister, Bertie Ahern, and with the Director General of Irish Aid, Michael Gaffey.
