Exploring the Role of Religious Leadership in Promoting an End to Conflict- 7th-9th November 2022

Between the 7th and 9th of November 2022, Forward Thinking facilitated a conference of religious, academic and political leaders at St George’s House, Windsor.  The meeting provided the opportunity to examine the role that religious leaders play in promoting durable political agreements to end violent conflict.

The following report synthesises the perspectives and recommendations from participants who represented the three main Abrahamic faith traditions. Discussions focused on the challenges and opportunities facing religious leaders within peacebuilding processes such as the promotion of the principles of respect and tolerance that underpin faith traditions, the use of sacred spaces as part of the peace implementation efforts, and the benefits of faith leaders in working towards conflict resolution.
